TCM as a holistic medicine

In the simplest terms possible, TCM is a way of looking at ourselves, the environment we are in and the world we live as a whole, and considers all these in the same context. And applying this perspective to everything affecting our health and wellbeing; such as our diet, our lifestyle, our physical health, our stress management; to how we interact with people, our community, and our environment. We believe in treating one as a whole vs other school of thoughts which focus on symptomatic approach on treating conditions (医人vs 医病). Thus it is important not only to identify and treats conditions, but also to optimize one’s health, wellbeing, and sustainability in our lives and in our world.

TCM’s view of the human body is only marginally concerned with anatomical structures, but focuses primarily on the body’s functions such as digestion, breathing, temperature maintenance, etc. Thus, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) regards our human body as an organic whole. Together with the concept of Yin & Yang energy, human life is a physiological process in constant motion and change. Therefore when there is an imbalance in this dynamic equilibrium, a person falls sick. One can benefit from TCM treatment by re-balancing the Yin & Yang. The emphasis is on customization of prescription with the medicinal healing properties of the herbs and the natural healing ability of the body to reach the harmony and balance of your body.

Tui Na (TCM Meridian Therapy)

As part of traditional Chinese medicine, Tui Na therapy is based on the meridian theory and targeted to treat different problems by stimulating certain points and regulating functions of the internal organs.

With different manipulations for different problems, Tui Na is well recognized by its basic philosophy – seeking powerful, lasting and penetrating effect.

Tuina is a good choice for medical conditions such as: Low back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, headache, insomnia, gastric pain, dysmenorrhea and other commonly encountered diseases.

Western Herbal Medicine

Western herbalism is based on western medicine anatomy and physiology but using natural herbal medicine instead of prescriptive drugs for health conditions. This medicine focuses on the patient rather than the disease. A consultation with our medical herbalist usually begins with a one-hour interview about your current conditions, past injuries, family history, symptoms, and medical problems etc. Based on that, our herbalist may then make an assessment and prescribe necessary herbal medicine, nutritional supplements and therapy at the causes, rather than just the presenting symptoms.

Bach Flower Remedies

“Wonderful as it may seem, relieve your patient of the mood or moods such as are given in this system of healing, and your patient is better”- Dr Edward Bach, 1936.

Emotional healing is made possible with Dr Bach’s Flower Remedies. Our Bach Flower Remedies Practitioner (BFRP) is professionally trained to facilitate sessions with clients with emotional imbalance. During the session, BFRP mainly listens to client’s story, asks relevant questions about how client feels and prescribe suitable remedies for healing. No counselling or advice will be given. We let the flower essence help you regain your positive energy. Remedies are to be taken orally. Suitable for children and adults, including patients under anti-depressants.

Examples of the 38 remedies discovered by Dr Bach, which are directed at a particular characteristic or emotional state:
Holly – hatred, envy and jealousy
Gorse – hopelessness and despair
Mimulus – fear of known things
Centaury – the inability to say ‘no’
Impatiens – impatience
Larch – lack of confidence
Pine – guilt
Star of Bethlehem – trauma

Who should see a Bach Flower Remedies Practitioner?
If you are tearing for no reason, anxious, suffer from uncontrollable anger, lack of interest in life, lack of self-confidence, great fear and worries, resentment and hatred, you may wish to consult a BFRP who guides you in relieving such negative emotions.
Start healing…
